"Reviewed the student's score on first SAT (490 CR, 490 WR, 540 M) - up about 300 points from her PSAT - and continued to work to improve for the next time she takes it. Went over practice sections she completed for homework, discussing problem sections, and worked some more on the reading, breaking down and practicing the sentence completion strategy to help her improve in that area."
"The student is only a few weeks away from sitting for the SAT for the first time. Today, we began by looking over the essay that he wrote since I saw him last Wednesday. He was able to craft the essay in the time he was allotted, but a lot of little details needed to be tuned up. While he grasped the importance of outlining his idea ahead of time, he essentially left out a sufficient level of specificity needed to garner a high score on this portion of the exam. I left him with my remarks and some notes on his essay and asked that he take another stab at it. We also looked at a reading section that he finished while timing himself. He certainly seems to have more confidence with these portions of the test but still didn't have enough time to return to some of the questions he left blank on his first pass-through. We walked through these questions, but it's important that he take the strategies I've been showing him to the timed environment. I asked that he complete another reading section. On Wednesday, we'll look at another reading comprehension section and a writing section - which he has so far done well with."
" - Meeting Friday, details later. - Last practice test and blue book test before May SAT. - The student wants more practice writing/math, look into CR blog and PWN SAT book."
