"The student and I covered a variety of math topics. I spent most of the time working with him on 7th grade material. I am assessing to establish a baseline for his math intelligence. In the future, I will stay with the word problems for fractions, decimals, commissions, taxes, and tips."
"On Tuesday I helped the student complete another section of his homework, which continued to explore the introduction to calculus 3 including vector analysis; concepts like dot product, cross product, and projection were explored. When I show him an example or go through with him how I got to my solution, I think it helps to explain why the solution is what it is, a conceptual or visual explanation of why the problem calls for that method. He does well organizing the concepts and formulae in a way which helps him know which ones to use when solving which problem."
"We have been practicing more for the student's final exam, and he is doing well. We have one more session before the final, and I intend to go over all the topics once again just to refresh his memory for the exam."
"We specifically covered sequences and regression curves. The student was unsure about questions from both topics at the beginning of the session, but by the end, he was just going through questions on his own. By the end of the session, he seemed to have a great understanding of the topics and completed practice problems with ease."
"We went over Chapter 7.1 and 7.2 homework questions. In Ch 7.1, we discussed simplifying radicals. We reviewed the rules in radicals and when to use the absolute value sign. In Ch 7.2, we practiced multiplying and dividing radicals."
"The student and I worked on her Algebra homework during this week's session. She is taking summer school, and her class is covering about one chapter a day and is also taking one test on the previous chapter each day. We worked on solving inequalities, graphing inequalities, and applications of inequalities. Her biggest struggle is with applications, so most of her questions were focused on those problems. We were able to go over all of her questions from the homework, as well as do some of the review problems from the book's chapter review section. We talked through our solutions as usual as a way to confirm that she understood the topic. Our next tutoring session will be next week at the same time."
