Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The main concept we covered was transformations to graphs of linear and quadratic functions. We discussed how to determine horizontal translations, vertical translations, reflections, and dilations, as well as how to show these transformations in the equations of functions."
"I covered the chapter on rational numbers with the student. We solved all the questions from the first exercise of this chapter. I also gave him an understanding of the next exercise in the chapter. The student solved all the questions correctly."
"The student and I went over the slope-intercept form of linear equations in depth, reinforcing the lessons from the past couple weeks. She shows a strong understanding in graphing and solving using slope-intercept form algebraically. Upon completing and reinforcing this lesson, we moved ahead in the chapter, and I taught her how to find the line of best fit and how it can be useful in real-life situations. She seemed to understand the relevance of the Line of Best Fit. Last, I introduced Systems of Equations to Stella showing her how to solve for the point of intersection both by graphing and solving algebraically. We will review the introduction to systems of equations and continue with this lesson and linear inequalities in the next session."
"We got to know each other a bit. We then worked through several problems that involved simplifying radical expressions."
"For this session, the student and I focused on continuing to practice problems involving multiplication, dividing, adding, and subtracting fractions as well as exponents and solving one step and multiple step linear equations. The student has made significant progress with his calculations but still has a habit of making small mental errors. We practiced several problems as well as a mini practice test. I encouraged more practice in his spare time to fully master all the concepts."
"The student and I went over the online math homework for Chapter 10 and reviewed some of the problems on her final review sheet. We went over more slope-intercept problems and discussed the steps that you will take to find an equation. We also discussed some rules concerning vertical and horizontal lines in relation to slope and equations."
