Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight we reviewed several of the questions that the student remembered from the math exam that she took earlier this week. Many of the questions were different from what she had been expecting. The test focuses heavily on word problems and application type questions that she had some trouble with. Between now and the next time she takes the exam we are going to focus specifically on those types of questions. She also had some issues with the timing of the test and ended up having to guess on quite a few, so over our next several sessions we are also going to talk about time-saving strategies such as using the answer choices effectively and coming up with alternate ways to approach certain kinds of problems."
"We covered chi-square goodness of fit tests and test for independence. The student had a good understanding of the material going into the session. We worked through some problems as part of her assignment,. She used an online resource to conduct the chi-square tests. She will work on a couple of more problems on her own, and we'll review it next time."
"The student completed the last few questions on the study guide and we reviewed those questions. We also did more work on SSA, ASA, etc. triangles. Together we worked on more parallel and perpendicular line equations for her test tomorrow."
"Today the student and I were able to complete his math and social studies assignments. He continues to be very happy and productive during our session now that he has some direction. I was able to examine his grades today and found the problem areas in his school work. We will continue to implement the daily assignments I have given him."
"Worked with the student for the first hour, reviewing his homework and preparing for his upcoming quiz. In the second hour, I helped the student on the first few pages of his review packet. He completed what was due for tomorrow and was able to work a bit beyond that."
"I went over concepts related to chain rule, product rule, and quotient rule with the student. At first she struggled with remembering the rules, but I taught her some rhymes for each of the rules, which helped. We also went over integration of polynomials, e, and u substitution."
