Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed more coordinate geometry, including finding the distance between two points, finding the midpoint between two points, and how to simplify a square root. Then we walked through basic nutrition (the six nutrients: water, carbs, fats, proteins, minerals, and vitamins). Then, we talked about the digestive system's structures and functions and the urinary tract's structures and functions!"
"We reviewed Modules 6 and 7 on right triangles and arcs. The student took a little time to refresh her memory on the material, but by the end, seemed to coast through the problem set. I asked that she complete the remaining problems without me and to bring questions to work on during our next session. For our last session, we will review Modules 6-9 and make sure the student is ready for her final exam."
"We went over all her practice problems for her test on area and volume of various polygons. The student understood the concepts well and knows how to use different formulas. I expect her to do well on her test. She picks up the work very quickly and it is very easy to work with her."
"Today was the day before the student's big test, so we had a lot to accomplish. First, we reviewed what area means and went over all the formulas. Next, we reviewed what volume means and went over all of those formulas. Then, we discussed what surface area and lateral surface mean, and practiced how to calculate them. At the end, we focused on perfecting his index card, since he's allowed to use one on the test with all the formulas on it. I made sure that he didn't forget anything and that all of them were correct."
"We made more progress on our review of the student's packet that focuses on proportions and rates of change. We will continue to work with rates of change, as that's something that can trip him up. Next session, we will discuss expressions and writing equations from word problems."
"This was our last session of the school year. The student was such a joy to work with this semester. She was very good at communicating when it came to scheduling which was very much appreciated. This final session was over circles, trig, and area and circumference. If she will remember SOH CAH TOA I think she will do fine with trig problems. The student worked so hard this year. I am so proud of her!"
