Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did more problems on algebraic transformations. She had to draw the parent equation and then the new equation based on the translations."
"This session we created a graphic organizer the student was assigned for homework. The organizer included topics such as the unit circle, trig ratios, and converting between radians and degrees. We also reviewed a few topics that he had on his last test. We will go over old tests once the student receives them to start preparing for his final. The student is steadily improving and has a desire to learn."
"I worked with the student on Pre-Calculus. The material covered graphing of the special functions specifically covering tangents, amplitude, vertical shift, phase shift, and the period."
"In this session, we continued graphing trigonometric functions. This time, we focused on tangent and cotangent. I explained the differences between these graphs versus the graphs of sine and cosine. Then, we did some practice problems until the student felt comfortable with the material."
"We reviewed simplifying logarithmic equations, using logarithms to solve to variables, and modeling interest for the student's upcoming quiz. We also went over new material on ellipses. He had just learned it today but had a good understanding of how to determine the major/minor axis, find the center/vertices/foci, and rearrange the equation if it wasn't equal to 1 already. He's making very good progress in understanding and retaining the material!"
"We covered exponential functions, compounded interest, and continuously compounded interest. The student's attitude was positive. Strategies I used during the session included showing an example or two first and then asking the student to do a few problems on her own. She said she felt better about her test than previous tests. On her last quiz, she got 24/25, which is very good."
