Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session began with assessments to assure students have learn the sound of the vowels, which is imperative for reading, listening and pronunciation. We touched upon the verb 'to be' and slowly we can incorporate conjugations into our sessions. We also covered the time and prices, questions like "que hora es?" and "cuanto cuesta?" were used as based for conversation, and also a way to assess pronunciation and material learned. Mostly the assessment considered the numbers and how the students incorporated it into the time and prices shown. The students were eager to learn. Strategies included downloading an app that could serve as a translator. An email will detail the extra practice that they need for the next session, however the same conversation time (between them) apply, this will serve as a way for them to share information with each other and learn more material."
"We reviewed the -ar verbs and sent her some worksheets so that she can practice with me. We also covered the -er and -ir verbs conjugation and oral and written practice. Another thing that we covered is vocabulary in regards to nature, and she was given some homework to practice the verbs and the vocabulary. I sent her worksheets on the imperfect tense, and we will communicate via email if there is any question on the worksheets given to her. It was a great session, and next week, we will work on all the verbs for her, plus nature and animal vocabulary that she selected to learn. Next time, I will be working more with her on the imperfect tense and making the differentiation between the two past tenses."
"We spent time reviewing a packet the student had in which he had to answer questions using vocabulary on class schedules, subjects, and school supplies. His dad mentioned that he has improved to an A in Spanish, but needs improvement in math and science, so we spent some time going over science as well. I quizzed him on what he was learning in science (velocity and acceleration). He seemed to have a good grasp on it, but he could use a little more practice graphing position vs time and velocity vs time, which are challenging concepts. We will work on those during our next session, and we will incorporate some math practice into the session as well."
