Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We had a great session! Student reported that she has earned, for the first time since entering high school, all B's or higher for the marking period! I am extremely proud of her for the hard work and initiative she is taking on managing her grades and homework. We did a little bit of math today, mostly some work with bringing algebra into her understanding of complimentary, supplementary and vertical angles, and continued our main focus on chemistry. She completed about half of the day's assignment on her own, and the rest she was able to complete with some prompting from me - the running theme was, "apply kinetic-molecular theory," which is basically that particles experience attractive forces when they are closer to each other, and are always in motion. Again, great session!"
"The student and I worked mostly on her paper, correcting mechanical errors and improving wording. I gave her a few suggestions on places to add length. We spent the last 20 minutes working on science."
"In our last session, the student and I started getting acquainted. He showed me what he was working on in class and started letting me know what he would like to have help on. We did some practice problems to help get a feel for where he was at, and he did excellent."
"We covered information for the student's upcoming history and religion exam. We studied the study guides that he received and I quizzed him on the various terms and questions. We came up with various tips to help him better remember the information. Overall this was a great session!"
"This session we reviewed some previous spelling words that the student had. He had a difficult start with recalling the spelling of some words, but once we used some strategies like sounding the word out, he had an easier time. I like for him to read out loud so he can hear what he's saying; sometimes he adds or takes out words."
"The student and I had a pretty good session. We studied for her civics exam, checked her organization, and went over some of her math."
