Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today's session began with a review on converting fractions to percentages and vice versa. During the last half hour the student took a Section 1 (Quantitative) portion of a practice exam."
"This was my first time meeting the student, and I was pleased to find an inquisitive, bright kid. I had graded his exam over the last few days, so we spent most of our session covering the material on that. His math skills seemed strong for the most part. His reading skills also seemed pretty strong. He only got about 3 problems wrong throughout the section. We talked about what inferring means and how he should be making educated guesses not looking for exact answers. We talked about how best to improve his vocabulary and how to pay attention to root words. We also talked about how to analyze analogy problems: Figure out the relationships possible, the type of word, and then decide which fits best. We also talked about the test in general, scoring, time, and where he stands now. I think he is already in pretty good shape."
"The student and I started by going over her vocab flashcards. She actually did better than she expected, which is great. We then went through some practice problems from all 3 sections. In math, she is really good at solving equations. Her vocabulary is improving, and we are working to develop the confidence to guess."
