Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed strategies and assessed timing for reading and science sections. Introduced ACT essay, focusing on differences from the SAT essay. Read examples and began brainstorming an essay."
"For the majority of this session, we went over a practice math test that the student had just done. He did much better this time. We spent time learning more about these concepts so that the next time he sees them, he'll recognize them more quickly. Once we had gone over the math, we switched to English. We went through the questions he wanted to go over, so next time we'll spend a significant portion of the session on test-taking strategies for the English section."
"Today was our first session on the assessment. The student had never looked at the test before taking the diagnostic. He said he will take the test next Saturday as practice and then will schedule another test session later in the summer. I scored the diagnostic test while he read about the structure of the test. His strengths are math and reading through the test quickly, although his reading and his English scores are good as well. He needs to work on his timing on the science section. We went through each type of question on the test and did practice questions for each. I briefed him on the time limits on each question for each session of the test. For homework, he will read over the math chapters of his assessment book."
