"This class we continued to practice stem changing verbs and I handed out a worksheet in which the class further solidified the knowledge. We then went on to discuss the irregular "yo" form in which many forms such as hacer, when conjugated in the "yo" form end in "go," such as hacer lo hago. Irregular verb conjugation is definitely one of the least fun aspects of learning Spanish. There is no simple rule, and the easiest, most sure way is memorization. Some of the homework I gave them tonight was to start familiarizing themselves with irregular verb conjugations. We started to do some more script writing/ role playing work using the new verbs and conjugations that we learned. We will continue to work on this next class as well as perform them. If time permits, I will also go over the irregular conjugations of ser, estar, and ir, and talk about the different uses of the two "to be" verbs ser and estar. Overall, I am really proud of how the guys are doing. I think they are really pushing themselves and have truly learned a significant amount in just a few short weeks."
"We began to review flashcards and form sentences in Spanish. Additionally we took notes and discussed some important phrases for the student to work on if he were to visit a Spanish-speaking country."
"The student and I went over vocabulary (professions) and the various verb tenses in Spanish, and the accent rules. He is talented in Spanish, and in the next few sessions we will concentrate more in reading and speaking."
