Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through her online quizzes. We solved 36 questions. It was about exponents and their properties. I explained to her how she has to solve them. We also covered some polynomials. We went through factoring and foil. She understood how she has to do them. She needs to practice a little on these concepts. She is doing well."
"In today's session we worked on unit conversions. The student did fairly well with this subject and grew in his confidence as we worked through practice problems. He continues to grow in his ability to handle word problems. I've seen good growth in his ability to identify what the problem is asking and how to set up the solution appropriately."
"We continued working on word problems, specifically those requiring calculation of percentages. The student is improving in her ability to interpret the information conveyed in the word problems. Understanding the mathematical aspects of the problems is no longer an issue for her. She completed her math study packet due on Monday. I will email her additional practice questions for completion prior to our next tutoring session."
"I spent this session with the student working on problems involving binomial expansion and logarithms. He has logarithms down pat, and a very good understanding of the binomial expansion problems, which are very tricky. I would recommend he continue to practice problems involving binomial expansions."
"The student and I continued our study of series. We covered more types of tests for convergence, such as the alternating series test and the ratio and root tests. We also began working with modeling functions with series, and the principle of piecewise differentiation and integration. We ended the session by beginning to talk about the Taylor series."
"Today the student and I went over simple systems of linear equations and how to solve them, as well as converting decimals to percentage and vice versa as well as word problems. As always, her actual math skills are incredible, but she had a little bit of a hard time conceptualizing what was going on in the systems of linear equations and some of the word problems. I do believe that with a little extra practice, she'll be a superstar with it."
