Today we had a good review of the standard deviation. We went over the idea of the R.M.S. (root mean squared) and how it relates to the standard deviation. We talked about what the standard deviation means, and how to interpret the differences between two data sets based on their standard deviation. We did the same for their average, which took no time at all. We also went over an example histogram, and how to interpret it for a data set of height of students.

The student and I covered the following 6th grade math topics from his homework: prime and composite numbers 1-30 by drawing rectangular tile models to represent the factors of 30, listing the square numbers from 1-30, identifying what the factors of a square number have in common, and applications of the rectangular model. The student was cooperative. He required guided practice to understand some of the material at times. He is great at his multiplication which is crucial to prime and composite numbers.
