Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student said she has a test over logarithms coming up, but has had a substitute for several days and therefore hasn't seen the material. We worked through a practice test in her online book, which covered most aspects of logarithms."
"The student and I started with reading comprehension practice and then we did some math word problems. I noticed that she was having some challenges with regrouping and I switched gears a little to give a small lesson in regrouping for adding and subtracting."
"We went over exponential functions, simple interest, and compound interest problems. We did multiple examples of simple interest and compound interest. The only confusion was determining n = # of times compounded in a year. The student had trouble at first, but once explained he was fine. We also solved the compound interest formula for the interest rate r. He had to solve (1+ x) ^5 = 1.5. The hardest part was remembering to take the fifth root of both sides. Then solve."
"We reviewed particle motion and Newton's method as well as tangent line approximations for his test tomorrow. He seems to be understanding it a lot more and improving."
"The student and I reviewed probability and counting techniques for her upcoming test. She clearly had improved greatly on each method, and my explanations helped her even more."
"We reviewed calculation of discriminants on the student's last exam and we went over solving a system of quadratic equations."
