Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I helped the student answer some questions on her chemistry study guide, that she was needed help with. We did some problems regarding balancing equations, to help her prepare for her upcoming test. We also went over her homework problems for pre-calc, which involved converting between degrees, minutes, and radians. I also went over the next section with her, which covered trig functions."
"We covered graphing functions and solving complex equations including quadratic equations and ones involving radicals. The session went well."
"Went over the student's practice final exam in preparation for today's final exam. He has remembered all of the techniques I have taught him in previous sessions and I am sure that he will do well. It was a pleasure working with him! I truly wish him the best of luck."
"The student and I covered the unit circle and radians. We covered finding the radians, coordinates, and the tangents of several places on the unit circle. I explained secant, covenant, and tangent. He was able to use the unit circle to find the six trigonometric functions for points. The student and I also covered how to find the coterminal. Finally, he and I went over how to solve the six trigonometric functions given a point on the terminal side."
"During this session we continued reviewing all the material the student learned throughout the first semester of his Pre-Calculus class. We looked at trig functions, trig proofs, trig identities, angular velocity and linear velocity, and some important algebra concepts."
"We are studying for the final by working backwards starting with the most recent test. We went through most of the problems he struggled with and wrote notes for how to attempt each type of problem. We spent most time on the unit circle and trig identities. He will do other problems on his own this week and bring any that he had trouble with next time."
"After a week off, the student and I had discussed new sets of word problems, mostly dealing with algebraic/graphical optimization. Once she got used to writing all of the knowns and unknowns, she got through all of the problems easily. We had also discussed some questions from the previous week's exam."
"In this section the student and I covered transforming equations by partial-fraction decomposition and also synthetic division. She has a final today so we covered the entirety of section two that covered quadratic equations, higher order polynomials, graphing and solving for the x-intercepts."
"The student and I had a great session covering simplification of trigonometric expressions. Specifically, we simplified expressions using trigonometric identities then solved the inverse of them to find the angle that made the expression true. The student was much more attentive this session and had a positive attitude."
"I worked with the student on making up assignments for her Pre-Calculus course. She had missed many days due to an illness, however, she is getting back into it. Her concentration was improving within the session, and she was able to retain the information."
"We went over the student's review sheet for his upcoming assessments. The main focus of logarithms was explored including graphing, finding domains, and compound interest. We will work on his understanding of how to multiply examples like e^x*e^y=e^(x+y) and on remembering his logarithm properties and rules."
"Today was somewhat of a review for the student as we went over trig functions that he may have learned in high school, mainly their applications to geometry. I only had to help him with some of the more complicated word problems and proofs. We completed his assignments for break without any problems."
