Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent half of the session working on Algebra 2 and the other half working on some chemistry problems. For Algebra 2, it was mostly review of things that we have already gone over, such as conic sections and probability. For chemistry, we focused primarily on stoichiometry and did a large number of practice problems that had to do with balancing chemical reactions and unit conversion."
"We began with an extensive review, which covered the past few sections of her algebra 2 course as a refresher. We then hopped into statistics and probability. This includes ratios, normal distributions, permutations, and combinations. We then went over a chapter and did many practice problems with trigonometry. These problems were based around triangles and trying to find angles and well as length of side using sin, cos, and tan. We will be continuing on this subject tomorrow."
"Tonight I worked with the student on what some of the constants meant on her control charts that included x-bar and s-bar. Once we made it through some of the things she didn't understand, I was able to ask her a few questions on what exactly the exam she is preparing for consisted of. We spent most of the remaining time talking about what we would go over in future sessions and also what information she was going to send me and what information I needed to prepare for the next session."
"We began with a very basic review of algebra from order of operations, factoring numbers, substituting values for variables, and fractions. The student seems to have a good grasp of basic concepts, but will require more practice to help retain the information. I stressed the importance of proper note-taking and demonstrated how notes should be organized to help us review from them later on."
"We covered the current topic which is the volume and surface area of prisms and pyramids. He feels quite confident with the formulas and topics since the formulas will be provided in the upcoming test. It would be ideal to practice problems with different bases for prisms."
"The student and I worked through most of her study guide for the Algebra/Geometry test coming up on Thursday. She needs to work through the final eight problems and if she has any difficulty she needs to look through her notes and/or online for a video that will help her understanding the concepts better."
