Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked through some homework problems from section 7.7. She now understands the variables, n and delta x, how to use them, and how to enter summations into her calculator. The problems just take some time to complete. We will have another session before her quiz."
"The student has a test this week, so we spent this session going over some of the material that she needed to cover beforehand and review. We spent the bulk of the session on the substitution method and how to use that to solve for x and y in a linear system of equations."
"Today we worked on review packets in preparation for an upcoming exam. As has become the norm, she used her drive and intuition to work through the material at a strong and steady pace. Her comfort with the material allowed her to strengthen her math understanding and ability. Her only areas of possible improvement are little mistakes that she occasionally makes with the intricacies of formulas and their computations."
"We covered the first five chapters of the textbook in preparation for her final exam. The student was struggling with remembering concepts from the past. I told her to finish going over the packet so that next time, we could go over any questions that she had."
"The student had a math project that we worked on the entire time. He had to draw a sort of picture using seven different types of graphs. We talked about how to manipulate equations and domains to make the graphs look a certain way. For the most part the student worked fairly independently, asking questions when he was unsure."
"We covered questions on similar triangles, triangle inequalities, trigonometric ratios, and solving for missing angles as well using the trig ratios. The student did not understand the way her teacher taught similar triangles, so that may have been the most difficult area. We talked about writing down all formulas and concepts she had studied as notes on the test before actually starting the test."
