Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We managed to get a lot done today. We did three reading comprehension sections and learned five new letters: r, n, m, h, and b. Once again, when the student focuses, her writing is excellent."
"The student was introduced to expository writing. He reviewed the assigned homework. He wrote a writing sample of expository writing. I graded it using a rubric the expository. This helps him to stay organized and to stay on the topic."
"This year in writing, the student has been working through the five canons of rhetoric focusing on the 3 fundamental activities of writing- invention, arrangement, and elocution. In this session, she and I discussed a first draft based on the book, "A Gathering of Days," relying mainly on pathos as a means of persuasion to refine and strengthen her thesis and evidence. Through questioning and a review of literary elements of the story, we were able to do the introduction (exordium) and 2 pieces of evidence. Next Steps/Homework: She will need to review the story in order to find evidence to aid in the revision of the 3rd body paragraph (evidence) and conclusion. She should be ready to share this completed second draft on Thursday. Her final draft is due on April 7."
