Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the second half of the student's final review, and he was able to answer most of the questions himself. He stumbled on a few questions that were asking the same question as previous problems, but in a different way. After figuring out the wording, he finished the problems easily."
"During this session, the student and I focused again on environmental science. We studied concepts from his study guide and Moodle homework/ quizzes. We reviewed colony collapse disorder, electricity generated from power plants, and reduction/ oxidation. I think he is really solidifying these concepts. We are hoping that his last science quiz becomes available online so that we can study it, and have emailed his teacher requesting this. He seems more hopeful about the material, and is making big strides when it comes to terminology. He was much more comfortable talking about the waste treatment process, and things like porosity and permeability."
"The student has a test tomorrow so we spent this session studying for it. He is seeing definite improvement in his understanding of the concepts. We're now working on correcting some of the minor mistakes that he is still making."
"We reviewed for her test that she had the next day that included experimental and theoretical probability, odds, permutation and combination, and factorial. As we went through the material she gained confidence, and in the end she said she felt she was ready. Because we had talked about the material in previous sessions I did not give her any other study skills, I just gave her a little pep talk about her test. I also left her with many links to additional practice that she could look at."
"Worked on: Formulating and solving linear and quadratic equations, a bit of powers and exponential equations, a bit of statistics. She is smart and knows most of the concepts. She may need help on reviewing and remembering the past courses. She will work on her sample exams so that in the next session we go over the parts that she may be struggling with."
"The student and I finished up her packets covering scatter plots and two way graphs. We also worked on her extra credit project, which was to write a number sentence for each number up to 100. We also have made plans to meet next week to go over what she'll be learning next year."
