Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight we reviewed singular and plural adjectives and started working on the verbs estar and ser; how they are each conjugated and the situations in which they are used. I left the student with homework of conjugating estar and ser according to the corresponding subject pronouns."
"We practiced 2nd and 3rd conditionals using conversational situations. She needed a little review at first on the verb forms but after several minutes she was comfortable with everything."
"We reviewed his hw, answering questions to a story. We practiced the verb 'ir'. The student had to say where people are going and what they're going to do there. Then, we read a couple mini plays. Finally we read a couple short stories and he had to answer questions in complete sentences and answer some other questions as well. I left him another story to do on his own and a writing. He has to write about where he's going this weekend, what he's going to do, and give a reason why."
"The student has a quiz in Spanish tomorrow, so we primarily focused on getting ready for that. It is a basic conversation quiz on greetings, responses, and salutations. I went over all of the main ones with him as they were listed in his book, as well as in his class notes. We went through all the phrases orally at first, then we looked at them in writing toward the end. His responses were quick, so he seemed to have an easy time with the material."
"Today we continued with chapter one of our textbook. I gave him a workbook that I used to use that he can have during the time that we work together. The workbook has a list of relevant vocabulary words that he can continue to practice with in his spare time. We worked on conjugating the verb hacer and estar, and we also started on verbs that end in -ar. Next session we will be starting chapter 2. I think we'll start off with some simple review next time before we go on to new things."
"We first reviewed some of the topics we had covered last time, and then we practiced conversing. We talked about taking classes and having homework, and then we went over the date and time. I asked the student about his homework from other classes, and we made a plan to review it. We also went over a couple of new grammar constructions at the end."
