Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I'm pleased with the progress the student has been making in the past month. He's scored well on his quizzes and worksheets and has improved his sentence comprehension and composition. As per our last session, I'm beginning to push him a bit more to give him a head start on material he hasn't yet had in class (namely, the future tense of verbs and full use of the cases)."
"Focused on the basics of Latin grammar: case endings, forming verbs, present tense verb forms, and translation basics. The student needs to go over translating, grammar terminology, and more. She should review the things we went over today in addition to vocabulary."
"The student and I worked both to review material covered in last week's session (demonstrative pronouns and third conjugation verbs) as well as solidifying new material (primarily relative pronouns). I created a worksheet for today's session that included conjugating verb forms, going through ablatives, translating sentences and providing pronoun forms. He was clearly more comfortable identifying verb forms, translating them correctly and following a systematic approach to translating his sentences. It is evident that the language is becoming easier to tackle and this is the first session that I have witnessed both successful retention of previous material and comprehension of newly introduced concepts."
"Today we started to go over verb tenses and the third and fourth principle parts. We also covered identifying noun declensions and parsed nouns and verbs throughout the story. I sent the student vocabulary quizzes for each stage as we start to prepare for the midterm, and we will meet on Wednesday and Sunday of this upcoming week."
"This session we discussed her upcoming exam, the grammatical concepts that she wants to review for the exam, and verb tense endings. We spent the majority of our time working on identifying verb tenses. She was struggling to identify the endings without going through her tense paradigms."
"We went over the student's test, particularly the translation. We then prepared for an upcoming vocab quiz by making flashcards for new words."
