Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed the future and future perfect tenses, which he had learned in class this week. We talked about the differences in use between these two verb forms, and did some of the exercises from his book for both. I also had him do some more open-ended writing, asking him to write sentences of his own to describe what he was going to do in the future. We also went over numbers."
"The student worked on her flashcard assignment from the last session, and we reviewed what she had learned thus far. We also reviewed a recent test that she revised with her teacher as a reference to where we need to study more. For homework, I tasked her with section 1 and section 2 vocabulary review and the creation of flashcards. Our following sessions will be on Tuesdays."
"In this session, we covered the use of "on" vs. "in" vs. "to." We also continued reviewing verb tenses, in particular, focusing on when to use the present unreal conditional vs. past unreal conditional as well as the more common future and past tense. My goal is to get her familiar with more complicated verb tenses while she continues to improve her mastery of the more simple verb tenses. We also covered the differences in how to structure a sentence in English vs. Spanish. I left the student with a bit more homework this time, given that we'll both be unable to meet next Sunday. She should complete three exercise on the grammar app that she downloaded on her iPad. So far, I have noticed a slight improvement in pronunciation and confidence when she speaks."
