Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on preparing for her history exam on Monday. The exam covered the age and impacts of European exploration and the major dynastic empires of Asia. She worked in preparation for developing an engaging opening for her essay question. We reviewed the major discoveries and routes of European explorers and the consequences of the Columbian exchange. She then reviewed the important details of the Mughal empire, and the Ming and Qing dynasties in China. We spoke about major religious and cultural influences of the empires and how they motivated and drove changes in power and revolution. The student seems like she understood the material on its face and talking about the material is an appropriate way to study for a test. I encouraged her to use flashcards to reinforce the explorers and their routes, and I sent her a list of YouTube videos to contextualize the periods she is studying."
"We continued to review with the student for his World History exam. We completed his review sheets and then went over his vocabulary SAT words by defining, giving synonyms and antonyms. For the remainder of the time, I had the student provide me with answers to his review sheets for Industrialization and Imperialism. He will review more this evening for his exam."
"We read and discussed pages 193 through 200 of the World History textbook (Chapter 3). We looked up some words in the OED, and discussed vocabulary. I continued to urge the student to read all materials in the textbook including side matter."
