Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session we worked on polygon area calculations. We also discussed shapes containing multiple polygons requiring interpretation and knowledge of most polygon area formulas."
"During the last session with the student, we worked on finding solutions to inequalities. Specifically, she worked on questions where she had to graph the inequalities and determine solutions to the sets of inequalities based on the region they covered. She also attempted questions where she was given solutions to inequalities and had determine whether the solution would satisfy both sets of inequalities. She did really well during the session and completed all the questions assigned. Additionally, we have set up a routine in terms of reviewing important concepts at the beginning of each session and it helps her focus on the concepts that she need to memorize."
"Today we went over the current chapter homework, which is using the Quadratic formula to solve equations, and also figuring out when to use the formula instead of factoring, completing the square, or other methods. We all spent some more time going over setting up word problems and equations with rates and averages."
"The student is not surprisingly far more comfortable with geometry than algebra. We reviewed the worksheets that he completed for homework. He was initially having significant trouble working single variable algebraic equations that contains negatives and required use of the distributive property. He was feeling much more comfortable with the material after today's session. We utilized a practice test during the rest of the session."
"For warm up we analyzed solutions of rational equation. Then we went over the sequences and series. We were talking about recursive sequences and formula of the nth term. We continued with arithmetic and geometric sequences and series. We found the sum of the finite and infinite geometric sequence. Also we changed the sum into the sigma notation and vice versa."
"Today, we completed some questions from a practice exam, which included questions on how to find the vertex and intercepts of quadratic equations, how to define the domain and range of a function, and the multiple ways to find the roots of a quadratic function. For homework, he is to complete another practice exam on his own. For science, we completed our lesson on electricity, concluding our discussion on parallel and series circuits. For homework, he has some worksheets on this topic."
