"The student and I began by discussing her past testing experiences and perceived strengths/weaknesses. She shared that although she took the test in January and has been taking a test prep class in school, she has not seen any increase in her Critical Reading or Writing scores. Using a past practice test from the test prep book, we focused on specific strategies for sentence completions and how to distinguish between the "best" and "second best" answers on the passage-based reading. I also introduced a reading list for Quants and discussed other approaches to the passage-based reading that she will use in future lessons to see if a particular method agrees with her. We also reviewed the first two math sections of the practice test. The student sometimes has difficulty setting up the Level 4 and 5 problems, so we focused on how to identify and set up particular problem types that tend to appear frequently on the test. For homework, she will complete the Level 4 and 5 problems in Practice Test 6. She is very self-aware and focused. She asked very good questions throughout the lesson."
"Today, the student #1 and I had our first meeting and we covered trig. Student #2 and I went over quadratic equations and cross multiplying algebraic fractions."
"The student and I went over eight free response math problems and 15 multiple choice math problems. She did very well on these and only needed hints for long word problems involving geometry. We then moved on to writing questions. She is improving in this area and we also discussed parallelism and prepositional phrases when looking for subject verb agreement."
