Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our first session in a few weeks but the student seems to be on top of her physics material. She recently took a quiz on waves and vibrations and says that she thought it went well. They have been studying frequency and period, in the context of pendulums. But, we completed a review packet together because her teacher recently handed it out and stated it was important that they begin review for the final now. Both of us were surprised by that given that it is early March and the final is at the end of the year. Nonetheless, we completed all of the problems and she did fantastic. Many of the problems combined multiple physics concepts, such as energy, impulse-momentum theorem, and kinematics. She was only a little rusty with change in momentum, impulse, and collisions, but she quickly remembered how to solve such problems. There were even some circular motion problems but they were not difficult for her. I am sure she will have a test within the next two weeks. Our next session will be geared towards preparation for it."
"The student and I began with some trigonometry and then covered work, energy, and power. We also learned force, and how all of them work with springs. He seemed to understand all of the concepts."
"This session I worked with the student's mom so that she would be able to work with him. We covered four worksheets involving circuits and especially spent time on complex circuits (situations involving resistors in series and in parallel). I will be meeting with the student directly later this week to work on this material as well."
