Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we went over the reading (21/25) and math (26/30) sections that the student completed last week. There were no glaring problems with his reading comprehension section, so we briefly discussed strategies for the section. He was able to correct each of the problems he missed on his own. On math, we reviewed order of operations, ratios, and questions with variables in the answer choices. He also needed a little review of properties of arithmetic. He was able to correctly answer practice problems over all of the above concepts after review. During verbal section practice, he did a fantastic job using word parts and similar words to eliminate answers. Finally, we discussed the writing section, focusing on providing specific details to support his main ideas. His essay structure was very good. He should complete a practice essay and additional practice sections of his choosing before we next meet."
"I gave the students some sample word lists similar to those they would find on the assessment. I also went over some reading comprehension passages with them, paying particular attention to identifying the question types. We then turned to mathematics, working on problems with radicals and plane geometry concepts. Overall it was a great session."
"We worked on the verbal skills section focusing in on antonyms then moved to the logic section and ended with doing some inferential reading passage activities. All of these areas are ones that she struggles most in. She seems to have a better handle on the logic section related to drawing conclusions. For homework she will complete a verbal practice test and tall tale using some vocabulary words we reviewed together today."
