"We practiced English and reading. The student needs to try and improve her speed on the reading sections, but has a great understanding of the material. She did very well on English and worked at a good speed."
"Student and I began last night by discussing her overall test strategies and concerns. She had taken the first practice test and we decided to go over her reading and English sections, as those were her lowest scored sections. She demonstrates excellent command over test content in general: she is a strong reader and problem-solver, able to quickly identify meaning, contexts, and patterns within a passage and also within the test questions. We are working on getting her more familiar and comfortable with the test so that her test-taking reflects her knowledge and abilities. I suggested that she do more annotation of passages she finds difficult, since this can give her a concrete place to start from. We also discussed how to double check that an answer is fully correct and also the best option, and that just because there is a word or two from the passage, that doesn't necessarily mean that the answer is the right one. In regards to the English section, we went through to see if there was a pattern to her errors. Most of the errors were regarding modifiers, subject-verb agreement, and appositives. We briefly went over some of these grammar subjects and plan to continue discussing them during our next session. Her homework is to take the English and reading section from practice test two."
"ACT English practice: Who vs Whom, Its vs It's, Affect vs Effect, grammar practice, "if a sentence is removed what will the paragraph lose?" practice."
