Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed for her quiz on stoichiometry. I am feeling more and more encouraged by her performance. Today, she really started to show confidence in working through problems on her own. She is efficient and accurate. She still is struggling most with understanding the concepts. We will work on that in future sessions. She excels in problem-solving once she understands how to apply the concepts."
"We worked on preparation for AP chemistry exam. I believe we were able to make some progress in tackling the specific problems the student was running into. I think with some practice and encouragement we will be able be ready for the exam."
"We went over many examples of stoichiometric calculations, covering mole ratios, mole to gram and gram to mole calculations. The student is struggling with the conversions and calculations involved in this part of his course. He seems to be understanding how to balance chemical reactions, but is having more difficulty with this part. I have sent him some additional resources on this topic."
"The student and I worked on gas laws including Boyle's, Charles', Avogadro's and Gay-Lussac's, as well as how to combine them into the ideal gas law. Then we worked on solving problems using the Pythagorean theorem."
"In this session, we reviewed for the student's lab practical & unit exam over the plant kingdom. We covered bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms, & angiosperms, as well as all the evolutionary advancements. We looked at the various life cycles, plant anatomies & types of tissue as well. I believe the student is very well prepared for these tests."
"The student and I reviewed before her exam tonight. She said she feels better about her synthesis quiz earlier this morning than she did with the previous one. She and I went over her practice problems packet from her study group. She would go through each problem step by step, and I would guide her if she got stuck. She seems to be well versed in the material and prepared. She also seems more confident about it than she has previously. I will see her again before her final exam."
