"The student and I worked our way through the presidencies of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson. We spent time on the policies put in place by Hamilton, the XYZ Affair during Adam's tenure, Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase, and the build up to the War of 1812."
"We reviewed a sample Advanced Placement test and the types of questions and answers the student needed to know. I reviewed and explained what she had questions about, and we made plans to continue the review at our next session."
"The student and I worked on a document based question essay that he will be writing on Tuesday. The DBQ is a make-up that will replace his lowest test grade. His topic was to analyze the tensions surrounding immigration from 1880 to 1925 and the US Government's response to these tensions. We looked at some potential documents that could appear on his DBQ and formulated a thesis. We worked on and finished a draft as practice. He expressed that he felt more comfortable going in to his DBQ on Tuesday after writing a practice one."
"We used a computer program set up by his school to review info for the AP exam next week. The program was basically a set of flashcards, with chapter summaries to provide information on missed questions."
"Haven't met with the student in a little while; he had his SAT exam on the previous Saturday, so he had been focusing on that. This session, we started with a quick review of intermolecular forces, and the difference between London forces, hydrogen bonds, and dipole-dipole interactions. After that, we reviewed the overarching concepts in US history in preparation for his exam. I didn't have any multiple choice detail questions to ask him, so I mostly focused on the big themes and recognition of the changes in the US economy and culture over time."
"Today we worked on Islam. The student was struggling on pronouncing and understanding lasting contributions. The student had a great attitude. Primary sources and cause and effect strategies were implemented. The student had good scores today: 100%."
