Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed independence of variables, multiplication rule, and standard deviation for grouped data. The student seems to be developing a solid understanding of statistics. She needs to be able to internalize examples that will anchor her understanding."
"Today we went over his last exam. I suggested that he may want to type up a word document with all the equations in the book, to memorize and rely on getting the method for solution."
"The student had some homework on cumulative probability. We had to learn to use the tables in the back to find values for the numbers given. It was a tricky subject that wasn't presented to her in class so we went over it together. She gets that it's an additive table and we talked about how to solve around that when needed."
"The student and I went over the material for her quiz on t-testing. Her primary confusions stemmed from the way the material was presented, which contradicted her past stat class. Once we were able to interpret the notes, things made more sense."
"Today, the student and I reviewed for the test and it went wonderful. He got about a 90% on the practice test and seemed to thoroughly understand the concepts. He worked diligently to understand each of the concepts and seemed to really grasp when to use each formula for binomial distributions, central limit theorem, and Poisson distributions. I did encourage him to review vocabulary and to take the second practice test, but I am expecting him to do well. He also needs to finish his last homework assignment."
"Today we covered null hypothesis significance testing, t-tests, z-tests, linear regression, and correlation. We went over the professor's exam review sheets and practice problems. He knew most of the material pretty well and just needed reassurance on a few issues. The next meeting is on Sunday."
