Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Began the lesson with a review of the alphabet and phonetics of the language by dictating a few words and having the student write them down. Started to learn the importance of between ser vs. estar and when to use them. Assigned 2 exercises out of the workbook as homework."
"Worked on pronunciation and creating sentences with various verbs, mostly -AR verbs. Homework assigned: telling time at least once per hour, followed by a statement on what someone wants to do, has to do, desires/wishes to do, needs to do, likes to do, can do, or simply is doing or does."
"During today's session, I started our session by giving the student a quiz in order to test her ability and understanding. I gave her a quiz based on the preterite, imperfect, as well as present progressive tense. She was also quizzed on vocabulary words as well. I felt that she did extremely well on her quiz and I noticed that she nearly got all of the questions correct. As soon as we finished with the quiz we continued to touch on and review the present progressive tense and began working on proper pronunciation of words. We focused on a lot of repetition until she was getting more used to pronouncing the words in the correct way."
"We started by reviewing the material from the previous lesson (Nouns, articles and greetings); did a couple of writing and oral exercises to ensure that the student had understood these topics. Also, I introduced the numbers 1-100, the pronouns, verb "to be" and basic adjectives of emotion. This allowed her to start constructing complete sentences in Spanish to express people's emotions. We did an exercise where she had to describe different pictures using the new vocabulary and grammar; she did pretty well."
"Today we did a review to see how the student is doing. She remembers a lot of the vocabulary that we have learned, which is encouraging."
"Today we covered basic vocabulary including fish and favorite things. We also discussed articles, masculine and feminine. We did the phonetic sounds of the Spanish alphabet and laid out the Spanish alphabet itself. Next week are going to work on vocabulary as well as basic verbs and take it slow."
