"Today, I worked with Student A and Student B on the math section of the test. We are still working through the initial practice test that they took. We went over the math section in depth, going through every question. Student A did very well on the math section. The math section seemed to go really well. They both have the skill set to do awesome on this part of the test if they focus and think through the questions carefully, so to that end we talked about strategy and dissecting what the questions are asking."
"Tonight, the student and I worked on the reading section and some writing as well. We went over different strategies she could use with her writing and her overall composite score of 23. We will meet again on the 12th and work on a little of every subject."
"We started units on Ancient Greece (by making an outline of Minoan history) and on physics (by learning about force, mass, and inertia). The student also learned how to convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit scales."
"Student 1- chunking, spelling, identifying words within words, choosing important facts in non-fiction. Student 2- spelling, identifying words within words, identifying affixes, chunking, vocabulary, telling time using minutes before and after the hour."
"We talked about what the student found challenging when she took the SAT in November. Based on this, we mainly focused on writing multiple choice and reading sections. We discussed specific grammatical principles (to be expanded on in future sessions) as well as overall test-taking strategies."
