Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed how to find the inverse of a function and how to assess whether the inverse is a function itself. We also reviewed composite functions, and adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing functions. She needs practice with the Algebra I skill of distribution. I am going to make some suggestions of material which may help her get those skills correct."
"Our session went well today. We spent most of the time covering integration using substitution. He figured out the concept of substitution pretty quickly, and overall he is doing much better at taking integrals and derivatives. The student still makes occasional mistakes using algebra. I'd say that is one of the areas he would benefit from most with further review."
"Reviewed for the student's test. She's doing excellent and picks up concepts quickly. Taught multiplying and dividing with negative numbers."
"Completed study guide for upcoming math test. The study guide consisted of finding area and circumference, adding and subtracting negative numbers, word problems and some algebra. It took some time but he is definitely showing improvement. We also did more practice by completing problem set 84 for Friday."
"Today, the student and I had another very productive session. We primarily reviewed/made corrections on a quiz that he recently got back from his teacher. Additionally, we worked on strategies for solving word problems that involve finding/using information regarding 3-part ratios."
"Today we covered solving systems of equations through graphing and by substitution. We first went through a first example questions using an iPad app to graph the equations. Then we went to work on her homework. She still has a hard time grasping the concepts behind the math, but understands how to work through the problems. During this session, I modeled for her how to write out every step as I went along. I will encourage her to do this in the future to help prevent mistakes. Overall, the session went well and she was engaged in the work."
