Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on roots and radicals. As we've gone through this section in the book, the student has become more and more familiar with common roots which has helped immensely. She handled the subject matter today well, but she continues to struggle with negative numbers. I feel like my methods have not been effective with this subject, so before our next session I'm going to try and find alternative methods of explaining negative numbers. The student has a test on Wednesday, so we are going to have our next session this week earlier than usual."
"Tonight the student and I continued reviewing for his final. He has a test tomorrow (all part 1s). We did numerous multiple choice questions and strategies."
"The student and I discussed tutoring for the rest of the year. There are 2 weeks left until her exit exam, and we discussed how to review. We went through a homework worksheet on systems of equations. Two of the challenge problems involved systems of 3 equations with 3 variables, so we discussed how to approach these types of problems."
"The student continued his practice of solving quadratic equations using a variety of techniques. He also studied solving inequalities and linear equations. We finished all of his review assignments."
"We went over simplifying expressions and graphing. Once she is made to try and not just give up, she does very well. I am trying to instill confidence in her, as that seems to be her main issue."
"The student had an algebra quiz coming up, so we reviewed a few chapters. He had no trouble recalling some of the older concepts, like factoring. We worked a bit on Pythagorean theorem, and went over isolated triangles."
