Oklahoma City German Tutoring FAQ

When you reach out to Varsity Tutors, we can locate a professional Oklahoma City German tutor for you or a student in your family. Your student could be just getting started with the language and may be interested in enjoying the support of an expert. Or you could be studying German on your own and want to confirm your knowledge while strengthening your fluency. Whether you aim to learn the language for personal, academic, or professional reasons, Oklahoma City German tutoring can help you reach for your goals.

How can working with an Oklahoma City German tutor near me help me grow as a language learner?

As a native English speaker, working toward German fluency can be challenging despite some similarities that exist between the languages. For instance, even though both use articles with nouns, English articles do not change their form, but German articles change based on the case, number, and gender of the noun. To help you feel confident in your ability to understand these and other differences as you build your German language skills, it's good to study with an Oklahoma City German tutor. Even if you are gaining fantastic knowledge at local school like the University of Texas - San Antonio, you can benefit from additional support in your studies.

One of the many perks of studying with Oklahoma City German tutors is the ability to interact with your private instructor one-on-one. This personalized experience allows the educator to customize a lesson plan that aligns with the learning habits and educational goals of you or your student. While studying with your teacher, you can stop at any time to ask questions about concepts being covered. Your academic mentor can also provide continuous feedback so you never have to worry about developing bad habits when speaking or writing the German language.

Every student absorbs information differently. To account for these learning differences, the academic mentor can try more than one instructional methodology with you or your student. For instance, if you are an aural learner, your teacher could prepare short lectures to help you grasp the case of a noun, including the nominative, dative, accusative, and genitive cases. If you are a visual learner, your teacher could utilize flashcards as a memorization tool when growing your knowledge of specific vocabulary words or common German phrases.

Other concepts your personal instructor can cover include the six German tenses: simple past, past perfect, future, future perfect, present, and present perfect. Your educator can also go over the basics of verb conjugation. You or your student could benefit from foundational information about German history and culture or take part in simulated immersion to get more advanced experience with pronunciation and German grammar. This level of instruction can help boost your confidence and motivate you to continue growing in your German language studies.

By opting for in-person instruction, we can connect you with an educator who is able to meet at your preferred location. Whether you want to meet at your house after work or school or study at a local coffee shop, it can be arranged.

German Tutoring review by Noel in Oklahoma City, OK
This week we realized we needed to pay closer attention to how the student prepares and organizes for classes. His German binder broke this week, which means all his papers are haphazardly thrown together, which isn't conducive to studying. We spoke about upcoming assignments, and I gave him several "homework" assignments to do over the weekend, including organizing his notebook and German notes. Communication lines between parent, teacher, student, and tutor remain open and well used.

German Tutoring review by Anke in Oklahoma City, OK
We started with the student giving a summary of Chapter 11. I then tested his vocabulary from a range of previous chapters (he did very well). We then practiced conversation based on Chapter 11 and his upcoming trip overseas. We also covered how to say the time in German. He will work on Chapter 12 and learn new vocabulary from the Vocabulary sheet for homework.

German Tutoring review by Jasmine in Oklahoma City, OK
Today we reviewed colors, shapes, counting, greetings, rooms in the home, kitchen words, and eating and drinking words [and sentence structure] using a YouTube show for French kids. They also continued to work on their new vocabulary from last week, and we will continue to build upon that until the end of the year. We are working on the foundation for sentence structure, which we will tackle more directly in the spring. I also introduced a few online interactive games for the girls to play during and after the lesson for extra practice.

German Tutoring review by Juliette in Oklahoma City, OK
The student and I started off the session by practicing what we had covered during the last session on how to ask for directions and information. He told me about his day and how he got to work, and we moved on to the next chapter, which focused on the "pronoms personnels." We also went over the difference between l'imparfait and le passe compose, which he was having a hard time with. We did some comprehension exercises as well as some grammar and conjugation exercises. Good progress has been made since our first session.

German Tutoring review by Randa in Oklahoma City, OK
I played a little French video tied to current events. The student has learned to conjugate regular er, ir, and re verbs, and he will work on expanding on that knowledge to keep it fresh. To that end, I am familiarizing him with regular verbs conjugated with the same patterns. Last time we worked with aimer, and today we worked with chanter. After that, we went to the main focus of the day, the new irregular verb rire that I introduced last time and which will be added to our list of target verbs. Today, he conjugated rire in present, passe compose, imparfait, future, and conditional tenses.
