Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent most of the class talking about what they had done since the last time we had seen each other, family, art, and travel. Next, we reviewed the homework she had prepared, addressing any concerns. The homework looked very good, and I had noticed during our talk that her stem-changing verb conjugations were very good, so it clearly had had an impact on her overall improvement. At the end of the session, I showed her some online resources that would be useful and fun. One has articles with audio, lessons, and quizzes, and the other is a vocab game."
"The student and I discussed the vocabulary needed to purchase an airline ticket and how to get on and off a plane. We also talked about dining in a restaurant and the different types of food that we like to order and eat."
"I enjoyed working with these 3 ladies! They are very enthusiastic to learn! Today we went over basic greetings, how to ask where you are from, how you are (and responses) and basic phrases such as I am hungry, I am thirsty, I am tired). I had them take notes on what they learned and I told them to practice what we learned with each other for next time. They are all starting from scratch and do not have much previous knowledge about the language. There are no concerns from the session."
"We covered adjectives and nationalities. We practiced conversation by talking about the places they visited and activities they got to do in their recent travel. In addition, both students answered questions about the plot and characters of the assigned sitcom."
"Today we reviewed what we learned from last week. I also introduced the book I plan on using for our sessions. We completed the first two lessons in the book which went over vocab for things found in a living room and things found in a classroom. She is doing well. She needs to continue to practice her pronunciation and memorize her vocab words."
"In this session, I chose not to introduce new material and instead have an hour and a half of conversation. I found that this really helped the student to solidify her knowledge of the material and gain confidence. During our next few sessions, I will introduce the past tense. As this can be confusing, I wanted to make sure that she had a good grasp on what we have covered thus far."
