Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session the student and I reviewed her homework which covered Area in a Plane. She picked up the topic pretty quickly after I showed her a few strategies regarding how to set up the integral."
"I couldn't be more please with the student's growth. His mother shared with me his second trimester scores and compared to first trimester (prior to tutoring). He improved in 8 out of 10 areas in math. He also improved in his multiplication fact mastery. He is now up to an average of 9.2/min from his initial 7.7/min."
"Today, the student and I went over Algebra for his test on Thursday. This was mostly focusing on polynomials and the different ways to solve and apply the variables. When he gets going, he really is intent on finding the answer. I wrote out an outline that would assist with overall organization. He is able to do the steps. I wrote out a comprehensive list of steps to check for, which he said should make things much easier. We also went over word problems and application, which we couldn't spend too much time on so we could focus on fundamentals, but hopefully, he can practice and understand these as well."
"We reviewed for the student's test on Pythagorean theorem, rational and irrational numbers. She has Pythagorean theorem down. We took some time to review real, natural, integers, rational and irrational numbers."
"We went over how to set up his data set for performing statistical analyses on. He was unsure about what approach to use on whether or not the way he constructed the dataset will allow him to do the analysis that he wants. I advised him to get rid of the year of publication that's included in the variable Source for each of the newspaper observations as well as to give a code for each category for the variable Source (i.e. News = 1, Congressional Act = 2, Pub Law = 3)."
"We reviewed the student's first homework assignment. The assignment primarily covered issues related to sampling and how to calculate relative frequencies and the cumulative relative frequency. The session went well. She struggled a bit with some of the concepts early on but she appeared to be clear on how to perform most of the calculations by the end of the session. She also had some trouble with how to define and identify the independent and dependent variable. Similar to the calculations, she appeared to have a good understanding of how to define these by the end of the session."
