Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued working through FRQ packets from her teacher. These covered a variety of topics including thermodynamics, the ideal gas law, stoichiometry, equilibrium, and solution chemistry. Overall the student did well but ran into a few trouble spots which I needed to explain for her. I feel that she will do well on the AP exam Monday."
"We covered the material in the student's cancer and apoptosis lectures and discussed study strategies and habits. I was very happy with the mind map that she created on her own. I have faith that she will be able to continue these study skills to help her better organize and learn the material."
"The student was working with geometric and imaging optics, including Snell's law of refraction, the law of reflection, Malus' law, and concave and convex mirrors. We also talked a bit about Faraday's law and motional EMF."
"Today we finished covering a practice exam and then completely finished another practice exam. We went over a wide range of topics from 1-D kinematics to energy and momentum conservation. We will go through another practice exam during our next session on Sunday. The student seems to be doing pretty well. It seems that the most difficult part for her is remembering all of the equations which makes it difficult to start a problem. Once I guide her towards equations to use, she makes very quick progress so I do believe that she understands the fundamental concepts. During our next session we will focus on hashing out what equations to use so that she can become better at setting up problems."
"Reviewed DNA script, transcription, codon wheel and translation into amino acids. Reviewed base difference between DNA and RNA. Discussed methylation of DNA and its relation to oncogenesis. The student was appreciative of getting codon wheel & learning how to use it. Suggested other sites to get more information. She seems to be interested in learning and doing the best she can."
"For this session, we went over problems of various types in preparation for the upcoming AP Test. The student could reason out the majority of the problems on her own. For those that she could not, I pointed her in the right direction, and she was then able to work through the problem from there. She picks up on concepts rather quickly, and I feel that she will do very well on this AP test."
