Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we covered the definition of the derivative, the power rule, the product rule, and the quotient rule. The student seemed to only have trouble with being careful with distributing and adding fractions. I had him do the rest of his homework and suggested study problems for practice."
"The student needed help with Business Calculus, and we were able to go over all the things on his checklist. He needed help with different forms of differentiation, including implicit, polynomial, and logarithmic. He seemed receptive and understanding of my teaching methods."
"Today was a very productive, and lengthy, review for the student's test tomorrow. Overall, I was very impressed. He got a lot better at implicit differentiation and optimization. He worked hard the whole session. He still needs to make sure he has his growth/decay and logarithmic equations memorized for his test. We talked about some test taking strategies as well."
"We looked solely at calculus again, running through the student's professor's suggested optimization and curve sketching problems. She demonstrates a basic understanding of the concepts, and we've been honing in on the algebra of complicated derivatives and the setup of geometry-based optimization."
"We covered practice problems involving implicit derivations. We also went through two equations to prove that they are equal to what we expected them to be. Implicit differentiation comes very easily to the student. Everything seems to be going well with her."
"During this session, the student and I covered derivatives of functions. These functions included polynomials, exponentials, natural logs, log base ten, chain rule, product rule, and quotient rule. We spent time on the first few problems. It clicked for the student after we finished the first three. After these were done, he flew through the next five or six. I was incredibly impressed by how fast he was able to apply his understanding of derivatives once it clicked."
