"The student and I worked more toward his presentation on the Roaring Twenties. We focused on finding advertisements to place in the presentation."
"We continued with looking at essay topics that the student had written. The goal is to continue fine-tuning her ability to develop an effective thesis and build a solid argument to buttress said thesis. We also paid particular attention to how she concludes essays and the ingredients that make for an effective conclusion."
"The student and I worked on his IOD presentation for English on Mahfouz's "The Thief and the Dogs." We discussed his impressions of the work and how he planned on addressing the requirements of the assignment. It is a group presentation; he will be covering the social and cultural aspects of the story that were easy/difficult to understand. We outlined his presentation and talked about staying inside the time limits for the presentation, as well as paraphrasing quotes from the book to quickly illustrate his points. We ran through his presentation a couple of times together and discussed what is upcoming for the week."
"The student finished her math homework on division in fractions and novel questions. She studied her spelling list, vocabulary list, and science terms. She was good at writing down the words she needed to learn."
"The student took a timed practice writing test using an ACT prompt. He is still struggling to give specific and concrete examples of what he is talking about. He can write a good essay, but in order to improve his writing score, he needs to give more explanation about his ideas. After using the ACT rubric to score his essay, we looked at examples of ACT essays that scored a 2, 4, and 6. He is encouraged to continue working on providing specific examples in his writing."
"The student and I just worked on review today. When I asked her to read some words, there were several chunks and letters that she couldn't remember. This could be because her focus level was a little low, but I've also given her a lot of information recently, so she might be in need of more review and less new material. We will continue to work on that."
