Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student didn't have Chemistry today so we got ahead in the class and covered Charles's Law and the Ideal Gas Law. We also covered usage of the Law of Sines in Geometry."
"The student and I met to cover physics and math. For physics we worked on electro-statics, completing a worksheet on electric potential, electric fields, and capacitance. We also worked on some linear algebra, in particular on algorithms for solving linear systems. We'll likely meet again this week to work on more physics and calculus."
"The student has moved into magnetism. We worked through some more of his online work which was a good mix of theoretical problems and more brass tacks work. I tried to explain Flux to the student, which he had not covered yet. Flux is another one of those strange physics phenomenons, but I was able to explain it well on a problem by problem basic. We tackled Lenz's law and induced flux and current. Next session we will try to make sure he is properly prepared for his exam."
"The student and I reviewed the same topics as last session. We also went over DNA repair mechanisms, replication, and transcription. She was mostly looking to memorize more details of names, locations, and functions of different structures and processes. We will continue to work on this."
"We started off by assessing where the student was in the course, and then we focused on the basics in order to build a foundation of knowledge that could then be used to better understand the upcoming material. We focused mainly on atomic structure and bonding, creation of macromolecules, and the process of creating protein from DNA."
"The student and I covered the basics of photosynthesis, mitosis, and meiosis. The most difficult part of the session was working on the differentiation of mitosis versus meiosis. There are several similarities between the two, so we spent some extra time emphasizing how they were different. She was engaged and well prepared for the session. We discussed study strategies to try and pinpoint what works best for her. She demonstrated recall of much of the important information we covered in our first session."
