Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Based on my suggestions, the student tried a new approach this week for her practice tests. She reports that this noticeably increased her skills. She got more of the questions right. We spent much of our time on reading comp, and worked on reading carefully."
"This session the student and I went over some logic games that she did on her own. Most of them were difficult games that didn't fall into a clean category. I told her that if she's having a tough time with them these are the ones to have a tough time with, so she should feel confident in her ability. After we went through several of those we moved on to the advanced tips and tricks in the power score book. We talked through the concepts of numerical distribution and how and when to create specific separate templates for logic games."
"The student and I did a quick review of each section focusing on the overall strategies that he can use on test day."
"We reviewed the logic games I had assigned last time. The student is doing very well on LG!! We also covered argument structure, especially role and conclusion questions (on which she is very, very strong), and the more difficult match-the-structure questions."
"The student and I talked more on his strategy moving into the last two months of his test prep. We then went through another logical reasoning practice test, and he has considerably improved in accuracy and is beginning to do the same with time spent on each question. We'll be moving on to logic game and reading practice in the future."
"We worked on a reading comprehension passage and a distribution game before knocking off a series of weakening/ strengthening logical assumption problems. We went over identifying the conclusion and assumptions. The student was able to predict the correct answer on some of these problems from the setup, but needs to practice translating that prediction into an answer choice. At the end, we went over a difficult LR problem that she encountered in practice."
