"Essay Writing (crafting and structure: setting up a topic), vocab work: cards and testing, common grammar errors pt. 2, basic math skills testing review."
"For this session, I asked the student to do a whole practice timed as well as continue with her flashcards. She ended up doing a whole practice test minus the essay and all the math sections. The first thing we did was to score all the Critical Reading sections. We spent the rest of the session going over math. The student said that she didn't attempt the math sections because she felt incredibly intimidated. To help her to get a better handle on the math, I asked her to keep a math-only notebook which we will be filling in as we come across material the student needs to learn/review. This session, we covered solving for a variable when given two equations as well as complementary and supplementary angles. Lastly, we also spent a lot of time on probability. For even more practice with this topic, I gave the student a lot of practice problems to work through, and we even worked on some of her school homework which was on probability. Though it was all challenging for her, the student persevered, and I'm very happy with the progress she made today. For homework, I asked the student to do the essay (timed) and math sections (untimed) of Practice Test #3. I also asked her to be diligent about doing 15 flashcards/day, and I also asked her to make flashcards of the math reference information. Today's session was pretty much 2 months away from the exam, and I stressed to the student the importance of looking at her flashcards daily."
"The student and I did a close-out for SAT prep. We did practice problems in grammar, math and sentence completions."
