Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered functions and domains in detail. The student, as usual, seemed positive and optimistic toward learning the material. She has homework problems that she can practice to sharpen her skills. Finding physical, real examples of how the material relates to the real world would be useful for her. She received a grade for her first exam, and she has improved."
"We went over various problems including application of integration to work, and hydrostatic pressure today. This was a continuation of our last session in preparation for his exam, so we also reviewed arc length."
"I got some background information on the student, and we started covering Chapter 9. She did great with all of the material that was being covered."
"The student and I worked on going over her exam from the previous week. Most of her troubles with the test was timing issues. So we will make sure to work on how to best optimize timing going forward. She also second-guessed herself in some cases - erasing the correct answer. We worked on test corrections and she should at least get half of her points back on the exam. We also worked on percents - how to take percents of numbers and how to find what the missing percent is. She understands the topics well but we will need to practice more to ensure she really masters the subject."
"The student had a review assignment today covering positive and negative integers. Other concepts including order of operations and solving algebraic equations. She did well today."
"Today's session was devoted to review for his assessment on Thursday. We did practice problems related to domain, range, functions and radical expressions. I was really impressed by how much he improved on these topics since last week. I made a cheat sheet for him to review tomorrow like last time (it really helped him) and left him some specific homework problems as well so that he can keep practicing tomorrow since his test is Thursday."
