Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his geometry review in preparation for his retest. We went over perimeter and areas of shapes including parallelograms, trapezoids, rectangles, triangles, and irregular shapes. I made sure he understood how to solve all of the problems on the review and I double-checked his work."
"This was the first session with the student. She has an excellent understanding of geometry and does well on her homework. I will attempt to see if we can provide her with a more complex question source for practice. We went over several homework problems and proofs during the session."
"Today we talked about angles and arcs. We worked with a few formulas for finding the measures of arcs and angles depending on the type of angle cutting through the circle (ie inscribed vs exterior angles and secants vs tangents)."
"We reviewed material involving angles, inscribed or otherwise, related to a circle, tangent lines, sectors and segments for a test on Monday. The student did well with all concepts, and picked up on things quickly with someone there to guide her. I got the first real evidence of improvement today as well, in the form of a progress report, as she has gone from a high B to a mid A in the past few weeks, which is great to see."
"We covered areas of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, rhombi, kites, and trapezoids. This was a lot of material to cover in 90 minutes. The student is an excellent math student, so it appeared he was able to absorb what we summarized today, which was 8 pages of his homework. He said he felt more confident afterwards."
"I wrote a practice test for the student to take before her retake on Monday. The topics covered include area of circles, are of sectors, arc length, equation of circles, and circle theorems on secants and tangents. I modeled the test off of her old test. It should take her the same amount of time as the ones she takes in class."
