Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session was very productive and rewarding. I asked the student the session before to write a small essay on food - she chose to write about her family's food habits and compared and contrasted with two Spanish-speaking countries: Nicaragua and Spain. The session before this assignment, she seemed overwhelmed about this new writing challenge. However, she conquered her fear and wrote a great essay. It was well organized and conveyed her main points. She had a few grammar and syntax errors, which are expected at her level right now. It was her very first writing assignment, and I was very happy to see her progress. We went over the essay and made a few corrections together. We also started the new chapter on sports - we took an overview of the new vocabulary/grammar that we will be learning in this new chapter. Her homework is to review this new material."
"We talked through our numbers, letters, colors, and discussed princesses and their stories. The student did exceptionally well on Monday! Overall her Spanish seems to be benefiting greatly from a greater number of sessions."
"We had a 15-minute conversation in Spanish about his studies and went over vocabulary that arose during that conversation. We briefly discussed the gerund form. We talked about the preterite and did some basic exercises in the preterite. We discussed the difference between the preterite tense and the imperfect tense, which he is currently learning in class. We looked at the irregular verbs in the preterite and did some exercises conjugating those irregular verbs in context."
