Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through the student's study guide for her final and practiced all the subject areas that she felt needed review. We did some aural practice of numbers, time, and school subjects to prepare for the listening portion of the test. We spent some time discussing the difference between definite and indefinite articles. We also focused on the vocabulary for expressing likes, dislikes, and preferences. We have two more sessions planned before the final exam, and she is in very good shape with her control of the content so far. I am confident that she will be ready next week."
"We reviewed several verb forms and I added a couple more verbs to learn. We also drilled questions based on unit 2 vocabulary. we also did exercises in the workbook based on numbers and food items. We will start unit 4 and review vocabulary of unit 3 next week."
"Today was the student's first day of French 2. We went over the topics that will be reviewed in the first week of the class, focusing primarily on vocabulary relating to school, family, clothing, and shopping. We also practiced using possessive pronouns when describing friends and family members. Because she indicated that her teacher speaks mainly in French in class I conducted more of the tutoring session in French as well, using a question-and-answer method to engage her in dialogue about the vocabulary. Her comprehension level is good; she often understands the question perfectly but struggles to formulate her responses in French. This will continue to improve with practice. Once again I thank her for her continued hard work and I look forward to seeing her next week!"
