Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on classifying and solving missing parts of angles. She has a quiz that covers vertical, complimentary, supplementary, alternative interior, alternative exterior, adjacent, and corresponding angles. She worked well during our session and will continue to study the concepts before her quiz. She should focus on making sure she knows the terminology to match each situation."
"The student and I worked on sample problems from the ACT test for which he is preparing. We did questions from the first two topics, numerical problems and algebra. He demonstrated a good ability to tackle problems and seldom needed more than a small hint from me. On occasions when he did need more than a little help, we discussed similar problems and used those examples to build understanding for the places where we stumbled. Consistent practice should help him to remember techniques and topics for the test."
"We had a great session today. We first worked on French verbs that use etre in the past tense. We then worked on math, first estimating square roots, then practicing order of operations problems. We briefly worked on her social studies project, and ended with her English homework, which was choosing good quotes to use for an in-class essay. She showed an amazing work ethic today; I think this is one of the best sessions we've ever had."
"The student and I again went over her work because she did not yet take her test. She also took the reading portion of exam today, so we again practiced math, focusing on multiplication, division, and fractions--lots and lots of fractions."
"We reviewed math skills for the student's test on Friday. She did really well today and feels prepared for the test. I also introduced order of operations. This should be the next skill covered in her math class. Overall, she did a great job today!"
"During this session, the student and I worked on math. We reviewed fractions. Once we did several problems, she began to get the hang of it and felt more confident with her answers."
