Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I did factoring, cross multiplication, complex polynomial factorization. She is doing well on the new section of her class, and is really grasping the concepts. She received her past three homework assignments back, and received A's on all of them. She has her first quiz of the new section on Wednesday, so I gave her a few practice problems that we went over today to do tomorrow in preparation for her quiz."
"The tutoring session went well with the two of us going over his old exams as well as starting some new material that involved probability. I had a few explanations about increasing and decreasing functions because he had some questions on that material in our last session. We then went on to working on probability which he seemed to understand well. We also went over another page of his old exams in preparation for his midterm next week."
"We worked on a birthday polynomial project. The student had generated a polynomial using the numbers from her birth date and we found characteristics of the polynomial such as roots, relative minima and maxima, and end behavior."
"The student's homework today focused on converting angles between radians and degrees, finding reference angles, and using reference angles to evaluate trigonometric expressions without using a calculator."
"The student and I worked on Trig. We reviewed degrees and radians, trig functions, and coterminal angles. We also used Soh Cah Toa to evaluate values for unknown angles. Lastly, we found ways to get a reference angle from any angle in pi radians."
"We went over the student's new homework assignment on writing trig equations from graphs (using shifts, period, and amplitude); the problems she got wrong on her last quiz (she received a 93%); and reviewed for her upcoming quiz on finding exact values of trig functions without a calculator. She is doing very well with graphing trig functions, and had no problem with her homework assignment. The problems she got wrong on the quiz had to do with reference angles, and we went over examples that seemed to help. She seems very prepared for her quiz (she did well with all the sample problems I gave her from the textbook)."
